What does Cabu cost?

Cabu is free for basic design and specification use. No credit card required.

Why do I need to create an account?

Cabu drawings are saved to your custom user portal, and we need your information to setup your portal.

Who sees what I design?

Your designs are private drafts. Nobody else sees one until you choose to send it to the manufacturer, and then they see the build, your name and your company — the things they need to quote it.

Does the drawing belong to me?

Yes, the cable you design is yours. You can download and use the drawings and bill of materials however you like.

What if I want customizations or custom branding?

Cabu can be customized for your application, including custom-branded portals and personalized output documents. Contact the Cabu team to discuss the cost for customizations.

Does Cabu make mistakes?

Cabu relies on user input to generate technical documentation and, as such, Cabu isn't responsible for entry errors, end product compatibility or the accuracy of any output. Please check your work and all Cabu provided deliverables carefully. Users assume all liability from use.

I'm new to cable engineering. Can Cabu help me understand what I need?

Cabu offers a built-in Ask James learning library with common cable topics and attribute explanations.

Use and limitations

Cabu is a design and documentation aid. It is not an engineering approval, and it does not replace your own checks or your manufacturer's.

Everything Cabu produces is generated from what you enter. Cabu does not inspect your site, your existing plant or the equipment the assembly will connect to, and it cannot tell whether the cable you have specified is the right one for the job.

Cabu is not responsible for entry errors, end product compatibility or the accuracy of any output. Please check your work and all Cabu provided deliverables carefully before ordering or building anything.
Drawings, bills of materials and cut schedules are a starting point for your own engineering review. Lengths, tolerances, connector counts and part numbers should be confirmed with your manufacturer before production.
Nothing Cabu produces is a certification, test report or statement of compliance. Where a specification, performance class or country of origin has to be certified, that certification is the manufacturer's to make, not Cabu's.
Custom cable lengths carry real manufacturing variability, and a cable cut short cannot be lengthened. Order long and dress the slack in.
Users assume all liability from use of Cabu and of anything produced with it.
